3/27/2005 ~ To Keep a Pure Conscience

When Paul wrote the letters of Timothy,
The Heart was something to guard and protect.

God demands responsibility here and in eternity.

Conscience can become our greatest enemy.

I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, ... ~ 2nd Timothy 1:3

... not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, ...
~ 1st Timothy 1:3-7

... having faith and a good conscience, ... ~ 1st Timothy 1:18-20

Conscience has to be:

  1. TAUGHT - learned
  2. OBEYED - actions
  3. PURIFIED - employs memory

... That I might not sin against You. ~ Psalm 119:10-11

... their conscience also bearing witness, ... ~ Romans 2:15-16

Educate the conscience that we might not be accused.

... not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, ...
~ Ephesians 6:6

... Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. ...
~ Romans 14:22-23

Don't exceed the conscience. If it is questionable, don't do it.

... I thank God - through Jesus Christ our Lord! ... ~ Romans 7:24-8:1

Memory can be a helper but also a curse.
Cleanse erroneous errors from your mind.

How do you cleanse, purify your heart from guilt?

Trust yourself - it won't work.
             \->
reflections of the heart.

Trust God - I Am the truth.
             \->
import the word.

... So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them ... ~ Acts 15:6-10

... "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."
~ Acts 11:18

Hang-ups - guilt ---> I shall be set free to live!
Don't be trapped by your past.

'... wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.' ~ Acts 22:16

... you must be subject, ... but also for conscience' sake. ~ Romans 13:3-5
